EDIUS X: Troubleshoot to be running of background render service

EDIUS X: Troubleshoot to be running of background render service
This knowledge base instructs how to check if required servcies and processes to be running of background render service including the Job monitor

Overview
Expectedly running of background render service is fundamental requirement of running render job successfully. 

1. Preparation

Quit EDIUS application and / or GV Job Monitor if running
NOTE: Right-click on GV Job Monitor icon then select Close GV JobMonitor. If the icon does not appear, skip to #2

 

2. Checking if GV Render Engine is running

1) Right-click on GVRender Engine icon on the Task Notification Area then confirm Pause is active. This means that GVRender Engine is currently running. If Start is active, select it

2) If the GV Render Engine icon doesn’t stay, double-click C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS X\EHRenderEngine.exe
  

3. Checking if the render worker is running

Try timeline rendering in a project. Once completed, follow below steps:

1) Open Task Manager then go to [Processes]

2) Scroll down to Background processes

3) Confirm if two “EDIUS Rendering Engine” are listed 

4) If it’s not listed, double-click  C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS X\EHRenderWorker.exe

5) Confirm that EDIUS Rendering Engine appear in the background processes list

 

4. Restarting EH services

Firstly, you have followed #2 and #3 to get the situation of pausing GV Render Engine and listing Render worker

1) Open Task Manager then go to [Services]

2) Right-click on each of below service then select [Stop]

EHApiGatewayService
EHApplicationHost
EHAssetStore
EHConfigStore
EHIdentityService
EHMessageService
EHRenderService
EHSyncService

3) Right-click on the services then select [Start]

4) Once all of them have “Running” status, right-click on GV Render Engine icon on taskbar notification area then select Start.
